hydro-therapy, jacuzzi, outdoor hot tub & treatments.

Place: Taplow House Hotel

Location: Taplow, Buckinghamshire.

Eat: Lunch, Dinner & snack in the bar.

Just 10 minutes drive from Maidenhead,

in November 2011 they re-furbished and re-opened –

the interestingly titled ‘Woofy’s’ bar in the cellar, but

you should try ‘Berry’s’ the main eatery for a night out.

Sleep: A range of above average cosy, period rooms.

Individualised bathrooms, high ceilings and nice views.

Spa: None – but Cliveden is just a 20 minute walk!

Thames path, Boulters Lock and Cookham all walk-able.

Lowdown: We JUST visited for a wedding and the service,

venue and food were all up-to-scratch – even in the middle

of a snow-in with a full-house.

Billesley Manor

Place: Barcelo Billesley Manor Hotel

Location: Nr. Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Eat: We ate at the in the Bar and Restaurant.

Bar much better, Restaurant trying to be something

that it’s definitely NOT! Couldn’t cope with allergies.

Sleep: Standard functional rooms.

Spa: Reasonable pool, too many kids though!

Tennis courts and range of treatments on-site.

Lowdown: Definite feel of Fawlty Towers.

Lovely building, nice bar staff, but they can’t seat

the whole hotel for breakfast when they’re full.

DON’T forget your Barcelo discount card!
